Time for the by product of male bovines to take a walk! Horicon Marsh HRC will be hosting a club Upland Challenge Jan 20th 2008. Here's how it'll work.

6 teams - we'd like each team to be from a different club, but if you feel your club needs an extra team as insurance, so be it - upto 6 team members and as many dogs as you like. You'll get a morning or afternoon slot chosen by drawing and a good sized field. 50 chuckars will be released before you go out and you'll get about 3 1/2 hours to get as many as you can.

Half the birds will be banded with different colors worth different amounts of raffle tickets and some will be beer birds. Team with the most birds will win a trophy and bragging rights for a year. After the hunt we will have a dinner (included) and a raffle table with at least $1,000 worth of goodies reserved for the hunters. You get the tickets from your banded birds. We will have additional raffles with maybe a coupla guns etc.

We did this last year for Jack Sobczak's gun club and it was a riot. Organized mayhem! His gun club will be doing it again just before this hunt so we are hoping for scratch birds as well as the released birds. It really is fun.

Cost will be $700/team (under $120 per guy). If you can't make the hunt we will have banquet tickets available at $25 ea. The more attendees we get, the more prizes we will add - think DU style dinner. Maybe we can make it some kind of recognition dinner. It'll also be a great opportunity to catch up on your buddies' hunting seasons. There is lodging in the area and we will help with reservations etc. The hunt will be in Hustisford, WI same place we hold our upland hunt. As a bonus, we also clean your birds for you.
